Leander Plays !!!

So Mr Paes added one more trophy in his collection after winning US open Mixed doubles with Ms Black. This is in addition to his triumph of reaching the Finals in Men’s Doubles as well. To say that it is a creditable achievement for 35 years old sportsmen would be a gross understatement. To win a grand slam tennis tournament at 35 years takes some doing. We still remember Martina Navratilova achieving it at Wimbledon with Paes. But then we always knew that she is special & gifted sports person. So what do we have to say about our dear Mr Paes now. Here is one guy who plays from his heart. I have never seen a player who could play for country like he does (I am including the likes of Mr Tendulkar, Gopi Chand etc). You show him the Tri-color and he is a different men. He has played with his guts at Davis Cup and at times it was only his guts like against the tie with Pakistan where he took the fifth match of the rubber after grueling five hours. He has always led from the front and his commitment is always unquestionable when it comes to the country. It is this commitments and passion that forces him to tell younger players what is expected from them. That too to a player who has a famous legendary father, a known tennis player. It was such a sad moment in Indian Tennis history when younger players refused to play under Paes captaincy. Who was the leader among the lot is already a known fact. It was also sad to know that our latest tennis sensation opted to play with Mr Bhupathi when it comes to mixed doubles. The decision was commercially motivated then any thing else. All said and done, Mr Paes has replied back to all & sundry with the best way he can, by his deeds on the field. And where are all others who were getting after him ? There are some players who are special. It’s the responsibility of the country to treasure them. We are yet to find his replacement . Keep going Leander we are all behind you and simply love you.
