So here we are again hooked on to the TV watching what is our lifeline “cricket”. IPL is going on and going really strong. So what is IPL, is it Indian Passion League or is it India’s Privileged Lot? But according to the news papers its India Premier League and hence that’s good for all.
We have 8 teams representing the cities of India. But the names of the teams are so exaggerated that it takes some doing to understand which team is representing which city. The easiest way was to track them down by the colors of their Cheer Leaders. So golden cheerleaders are from Calcutta, the silver from Bangalore and so on. But this is also not working any more as Mr Thackery thought it to be so simple and hence the cheerleader are now changing their wardrobe. So it can be related to their mentors but this is also very confusing as I feel Mr Shahrukh Khan does not have any connection with Calcutta and Ms Priety Zinty was not born at Punjab.
The first week started with a Bang courtesy a great century by Maccullam. But as the rating started to drop the next best thing to move the show up is controversy. Hence the slapgate was there for us and people’s curiosity was again generated for few days about the punishment to be handed over to Mr Harbhajan. Now this decision could have been made next day itself but then that would have dropped those anxious moments that were there for few days till the final verdict.
Next was Warne v/s Ganguly. I was actually surprised that two high profile cricketers were having such a listless tournament for almost two weeks. You cannot keep the natural instincts down, hence here we are both blokes loosing their 10% fees and also damaging poor umpires pocket.
To every body's surprise it our very own Rajasthan Royals who are ruling the points table currently. We has this wily old leg spinner who also happens to be the couch of this team doing a great job of a leader. We also had Mr Mallaya's outburst against his own team and Mr Charu Sharma loosing his job.
So we had it all some great dances by bollywood stars, exception celeb value in the grounds, famous hindi songs on DJ, exciting cheerleaders doing exciting things wearing not so exciting clothes now, great beers and wines being served in the stadiums and did I wrote that we also had some cricket matches.
Stay tuned more to follow……
